使用氯桥酸制取的阻燃性树脂、防腐树脂、防腐涂料、增塑剂、层压塑料、粘合剂被广泛应用在塑料、印染、油漆、印刷电路板、玻璃纤维、特种化工设备等等。还可以用于生产含氯茵酸结构的农用杀虫剂。由于HET酸中含氯量高达54.4，对水、醇、碱等具有高度的稳定性，因此合成的树脂具有良好的耐腐蚀性能和阻燃性能，在国外已广泛应用于氯碱或纸浆工业中的高温湿氯气、盐酸和盐水等场合，以及污水、废油、废渣、异丙醇和二氧化硫等领域
