RESEARCH ABSTRACT SUMMARY:
Thomas Südhof is interested in how presynaptic terminals are formed during synaptogenesis, how presynaptic terminals release neurotransmitters, and how presynaptic terminals degenerate in neurodegenerative disease. To address these questions, Südhof's laboratory employs approaches ranging from biophysical studies to the physiological and behavioral analyses of mutant mice.
